Haunted: The Sallie House

They were almost there. The view of the house was coming up through the streets, only lit by the moonlight. The screams had turned to quiet grunts of pain with every step that the woman took. You see, along with her was the weight of a six year old girl covered in a blanket, which by now had already started to drag on the dirt under them and was covering only her arm. Dogs were barking at the distance, and it signaled to both of them of danger. The pain had started so suddenly for Sally, she was more confused than anything. Once she had collapsed in front of her mother, and the confusion her mother picked her up and started running toward the doctor's house. On arriving, the doctor asked what had happened. Upon hearing about the symptoms, he started getting his instruments ready for an emergency procedure. You see, the girl had appendicit There was no time to wait. If it burst, you could kill little Sally. Frantically, the woman set her down on the table and closed her eyes, begging for some help from anything out there listening to please save her six year old daughter. Doctor Charles Finney started with the anesthesia first. He needed a few more minutes for it to really work. The pressure was far too much for the doctor. He needed to begin the procedure now, without waiting for it to finish. She took out a scalpel and began to cut. Sally was in a tremendous amount of pain. Her screams filled the entire neighborhood and nothing could make her stop well until something finally did. Eventually, her screams faded, her lungs stopped moving, her body simply laid there limp. Her skin started cooling down, and it was only a matter of time before she would lose a glow that kept her alive. But Sally had no idea of what was happening. In fact, she only felt the torture that the doctor was trying to do to her. The pain she felt was something not wished upon anyone, and in fact, they might explain something very peculiar that has surrounded the house ever since. Older males seemed to remind Sally of the great amount of pain that she felt. They are known to become the target of the more violent occurrences in the house many many years later after Sally's death. Today, we'll learn a little bit more about the Sally House. My name is Edwin, and here it's a dark memory. The physician lived in the house where the story takes place. Originally built in the eighteen hundreds for Michael Finney and his family, it remained there for generations. The three bedrooms and two bathroom house, along with the basements, completely made of brick. When you look at the picture of it now, it definitely has that look and feel of an older home. But what really draws my attention is the fading of white paint on the sides of the two story residents, a pointy roof, a brick chimney in the middle of it. But who would know of the many stories of it simply by looking from the outside. The house was the place for many family members up until nineteen forty seven. From then we hop over to December of nineteen ninety two, when a young couple, Tony and Deborah Pickman, moved into five zero eight North Second Street. They were renting the place, despite the history of it, which by the time had been well known to its locals. The hows is haunted, they warned, But had they been in a desperate need of a place, or maybe just skeptical, They decided to move in anyway. They had gotten married recently and were expecting their first child. But then they started noticing that things were a little off. The nursery room upstairs must have had some type of entity that the dog would simply not like. Whenever the dog was upstairs near the nursery would begin to fix a stair out into nothing and then begin to growl in a defensive manner. The couple may have brushed it off as just another of the house. Soon even more things started happening. There had been about a month after they moved in when they saw that lights would begin to dim suddenly and then go back to regular brightness. As they would be making their way from the kitchen to the living room and then upstairs, they would pass by invisible spots where everything suddenly very cold. Toys that they had set up in the nursery would start playing sounds on their own. Even more surreal was at one time they heard noises coming from the nursery and they went up to investigate. Once they opened the door to check it out, they saw that the stuffed animals in the nursery had been rearranged into a circle all by themselves, But yet they remained there, unwilling to go through another major move, thinking that things would eventually calm down. After their son was born, things became even worse. The baby would wake up in the middle of the night. Nobody could understand what was happening. I mean, it's true that babies have their own sleeping patterns to establish, but what was actually happening was something more otherworldly. Every night, they would put the baby to sleep in his crib, they would turn off the lights and then head to their own bedroom. However, in the middle of the night, the baby would suddenly wake up. It was until one of the neighbors explained what was happening that things started to make sense. It turns out the light would turn back on inside the baby's room without explanation. The area where the operations would happen back in the day were always cold, and there was a strange mold growing in certain areas of the house. But soon these would be the least of the couple's worries. It was obvious that some supernatural force was responsible for these occurrences, yet the determined couple decided instead to contact a medium. Their search led them to Barbara Conners. Upon learning about the situation, explained to them what was going on. I suspected the young family had another member in the house, the spirits of a little girl named Sally, who was trying to get their attention. They searched for many solutions, but the one that was finally decided on was that the couple would embrace Sally as their own daughter, and that did not help matters one bit. It was her child's birthday party and guests and music were playing in the house. People were enjoying their food and celebrating the life of the Pigman's little boy. They was one to celebrate and forget about the strange happenings in the house, but the thoughts would not leave Tony's mind, since it seemed like whatever entity lived in the house with them appeared to be targeting him specifically. And it was at that party that, in the presence of all the guests, completely randomly, a doll caught on fire. But these attacks I mentioned on Tony had become more frequent. There are several links that show what he looked like after physical attacks. Most notably were the scratches on his back. They were discovered once they had gotten out of the house for a night because they were terrified at another events around the house. That's when Tony started complaining of a burning pain on his back, and that's when three mysterious scratches were discovered. But other things would happened also, like objects would be moving whenever the husband was near, and also the scratches, what happened on his chest and abdomen as well, and yet curiously, the wife and child were never hurt. By this time, Tony must have been always on edge. As this sally goes, it was lurking around trying to get his attention and in the most horrific ways possible. One night, Tony was in the upstairs area doing some things around the house when he was walking along the hall and passing by the stairs, and that's when he felt hands lift them up and push him. Tony was going to take it no more, and just two years after moving in they moved out. Who this spirit was and what its intentions were was not what I was expecting, and all of that up next they say that demon sometimes take the form of a less threatening presence to make themselves known, in this case a little girl. That is exactly what Debbie believes you see, the history of the house may not have been just a simple accident. In fact, there is another story that surrounds the house that might bring even more feelings of pain and revenge to whatever lursh in the dark was eagerly waiting for the time when he would be alone in the house, was having an affair with one of the maids that worked for his family. This eventually resulted in the maid becoming pregnant. The baby was named Sally. The doctor was enraged and hated seeing the little girl grow up and wanted nothing to do with her. So when the girl was six or seven years old and had started showing symptoms of appendicitis, the doctor refused to take her to the hospital. The frantic mother was willing to do anything for her child, decided to take her to the hospital or herself, but it was too late. Sally had died. Angry, the maid attacked the doctor through tears rolling down her face. The doctor attacked her too and killed her. Did you say that? Long after he moved out of the house, the spirits still remain in the residence. In the early two thousands, people in the house made another strange discovery. While investigating the basement, a pentagram was discovered to have been drawn on the floor. Pentagrams are typically used in Satanic rituals. When they did aluminal tests, which can detect dried up blood when exposed to a special type of light, it was discovered that there was blood spatter in the closet of the master bedroom, along with the bloody sweater in the attic. The Kansas Paranormal Group also did an investigation for the young family that lived there in the nineties. They claim to have found an additional entity, the ghost of a middle aged woman who was responsible for the more frightening occurrences. They say that this is something much worse than the little girl that haunts the house. House they claim to have been choked, scratched. Determined that the scariest places in the house where Sally's room, where the toys would move around, and of course basement. The Sally House is one of those places that have become icons with popular ghost hunting shows, so you may bump into the story of it in other places. But if those stories of Little Sally are true, then the spirit that roams the house might be another trapped soul desperate to leave. But if it isn't true and Sally has nothing but a disguise for something more sinister, then it would help explain what happened to the young couple, which you can experience when you visit the house for yourself. YouTubers and professional ghost hunters have visited the house and I have not been disappointed by what they have encountered.
