The judge looked over the documents and approved the visit. This had become routine in order to follow the standards that they had set for themselves. They really had no problem letting him out. Besides, Don had been put in jail for possessing stolen property, and his sentence less than a year could justify that this man was not in actual danger to society, just sort of an inconvenience to it. And so he was granted furlough to attend his grandfather's funeral, a man who had been named James Kishaw, on February twenty fourth, nineteen eighty three, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. But what would happen that day would shake up all of our beliefs of what is possible. Don was his name, and after the funeral, he was allowed to stay with his friends, Bob and Jeanie Keefer. After the funeral, it was then when when had happened for the first time, Don began to feel strange that night, uneasy, when all of a sudden, he felt a chill run all over his body. Then it started, the rain, water dripping from the walls. Countless witnesses and reports from police officers leading to more questions than answers. This man was displaying an ability to defy physics, a dark superpower. What comes next is the story of the strange case of Don Dekker, the rain Man. My name is Edwin, and here's a dark memory. The mood was solemn throughout the funeral. As the small crowd started to leave, Don returned home with Bob and Jennie to five twenty eight Ann Street in Stroudsburg. They came inside and settled in for a bit, and Don excused himself to wash up in the upstairs bathroom. He climbed up the stairs and opened up the door, and that's when he had a seizure and collapsed. And remembering the situation, Don described seeing a crowned man staring down at him. When the seizure was over, he claims to remember seeing a claw mark on his left wrist. He finished washing up and walked downstairs to sit on the living room couch. That's when he noticed a chill crawling from his neck and down his spine. He then went through something that his friends described as a type of trance like state. They tried to talk him out of it, when suddenly Don's friends noticed that the walls began to shine, reflecting light. Water was running down there. In shock, they tried to shake him out of it, but Don was not responding. Soon water started running down the ceiling, and while they were looking for the source of water, Don was still in silence. But it was then when they noticed that the water was coming up from the floor, traveling up the furniture, drops of water crawling away from the floor. It was then when they decided to call the police. Officers John Bogin and Richard Wohlbert were the first to arrive on the scene, along with the landlord's wife, a woman named Romayne. They could not believe what they were seeing. Water was indeed moving up the furniture and along the walls, but not only was it traveling in unusual directions, there was a mist forming in the living room. They would not leave the area. Why the landlord was notified. They could all see that raindrops were traveling horizontally. The landlord and his wife swear by the fact that once Don stepped out of the house that night, everything stopped. They were laughed in the house, confused at what had just happened. A few hours later, the officers arrived again with the police chief with them. He could see it the water, but dismissed it as a plumbing issue. He then told his subordinates to leave and not to talk about it anymore. The landlord confirmed that there were no pipes along the top of the living room area, nor from where the water was coming from, but that wasn't enough for the officers. What could explain such a bizarre event. Pam Scrofano, a friend of theirs and the owner of a nearby Pete's Aria, stopped by and was able to see what was happening that night. Before Don and the others left, she demanded that everyone get out of the house. Supernatural powers like those could only be the work of one entity, the devil. They all went to a nearby diner to talk more about the situation, but to Pam, this was mainly a way to get them out of there. But as they were sitting at one of the tables and the sense of being back to normal starting to surround the group once again, Don suddenly started acting strange. He would not respond, it was another trance like state. Suddenly they heard them drops coming from the ceiling inside the restaurant. It was raining inside nobody could believe what was happening. Pam took the crucifix that was around her neck and placed it against Don's skin, which temporarily seemed to break him away from his trance like state. Yelling that it had burned him. Pam was convinced and said that they should contact the church as soon as possible. What was occurring was not from this world. Worse, it was evil. She wanted him to get an exorcism. They were able to get down, to stand and walk out of the restaurant, and then just like that, the rain stopped. Now, there are several theories as to what could have happened to cause a rain inside the buildings like that, and through some research we found that ice damming, which is when ice melts on the attic and roof of a house, might be able to justify what happened phenomenon. Still, it's just that a theory. There are lots of other things that this idea does not explain. Could Don have left the faucet on in the bathroom? From what we gathered, his friends from the house had searched around for the source of the water and they could not find it. Now, why did the water stop right after Dawn and the others left. But things were about to become even more strange now. It all started once they got back from the diner into the house where the landlord and his wife were still trying to figure out exactly what happened. When they arrived back at five point twenty eight Ann Street, they were confronted by the landlord and his wife. The place could have been damaged from all the water, and they wanted more than just a simple explanation. They did not care about that anymore. They put all of the blame on Dawn for everything that had happened. It was then when it occurred. Don's eyes fixated straight ahead and he entered the now familiar trance. The dead silence filled the room as I'm sure some of them may have expected the water to begin falling from the walls and ceiling once again. Instead, they watched as Don began to levitate off the floor. He all stared in awe as he stayed still in space. It was then when the rattling started from the kitchen, as pots and pans were hurled at the rest of them. Don was still in a trance as he was thrown against the kitchen wall. It was already the following day when the police officers returned. Even though they had been instructed by the chief not to talk about the event and not to return to the scene, most of the people, likely based on Pam's influence, had accepted had been possessed by something from out of this world, and so three officers this time arrived to interview Don and try to answer some of the questions that they had been asking themselves what was going on. Don was confused the whole time. The rest of the group explained what had happened at the diner the night before. As a way to test their validity, the officers gave Donn a crucifix to hold. It was dropped immediately. Don complained that it had burned him. The officer bent down to pick up the crucifix and could confirm that, in fact, it was still hot to the touch. Then things took another turn. Water started to drip from the walls and it started to rain once again. Wherever you turned, water would be falling from the ceiling, moving in all directions. Right there in the kitchen, Don was drifting in and out of consciousness, based on reports, seemingly unaware of what was going on. It was then when Don levitated again. It was hurled against the wall. The police officers rushed over to help him. Something had picked him up and slammed him. When they were reaching for his arms to help him get back up, the officers noted three fresh claw marks on his neck. Since grasping that such things could happen was difficult for many, some started believing that it was a hoax to make money from fame. But if this were to be the case, many people who witness these things would have to be in on it and would have sworn to never reveeal it since nobody had said that this has all been staged. In fact, more people believe that this was a case of real possession and they had the reasons for it. Coming up what they did and what happened in an attempt to get to the source of these bizarre events. According to some, Don Dekker was left angry and vulnerable, as it was later discovered that the twenty one year old had been physically abused most of his life by none other than James Kishaw, his grandfather. The reason for his attendance to the funeral his suppression of all this anger went deep. In fact, his family was not aware of the abuse, and things got worse, and after three long nights of staying with his friends, they decided to contact a preacher to come to their house and perform an exorcism. The activity had not stopped around the house and it was becoming tougher for them to find the help that they needed from law enforcement, and so the preacher agreed to come and offer his help. He laid down on the couch and he began to pray over him. Was at that moment when he started to wildly convulse the walls. They could see it once again, the water rolling down from the edges, but this time the putrid smell began to fill the air. Don shook and twisted, convulsing as a prayer continued, and the rain fell from the ceiling. When they were done, the smell faded away. The rain suddenly stopped. The rain never appeared in their home again. Don was not off the hook but this jail sentence, and when his furlough was over, he was brought back to Monroe County Jail to complete it. He arrived, settled back in a jail se and reflected on what had happened had been several days after he arrived when the guards from the Monroe County Jail started hearing screams from one of the wings. It was don cellmate, calling for the guards to come as soon as possible. The cellmate had been soaked by water pouring from the ceiling and walls, and that strange miss that had been reported back in the house, well it was there once again. In retelling what happened, both the guard and the janitor mentioned the strange mist in the middle of the cell. Whispers of the rumors behind what had happened quickly circulated the jail and Don was brought in for questioning once more. When pressed for answers by one of the guards, Don claimed that he could control the rain. The guard chuckled, he hadn't heard it all already, and he was not having it. He looked at Don straight in the eye and taunted him, Well, if he can control the rain, then make it rain right here the warden's office. It was then, while sitting at his desk just a few minutes later, the warden said that his shirt was now soaked with water, without any explanation behind it. A bit more cautious this time, the warden decided to call in the jail's reverend, who sat and spoke with Don privately. While they were talking, a foul smell started expanding through the area, and rain started to fall that would look like Don could control by lifting his fingers. According to the reverend, he opened his Bible to pray for Don, and eventually the rain stopped. Strangely enough, the Bible did not appear to have become wet. The reverend then found it necessary to perform an even long exorcism ceremony on Don to remove whatever had taken over or given him such a strange ability. When it was over, the rain and foul smell went away forever. As we have noticed with many of these supernatural mysteries, sometimes the places where the events occur are only the tip of the iceberg entities, those that come from darkness are usually the ones responsible. Even though we are offered an explanation that even Don believes to be true that his grandfather was responsible for what was happening, some things about this case still remain a mystery. The house mentioned in this case, five twenty eight Ann Street, has been demolished. No one has reported paranormal events on the property.
