Brenda had a tough day at work. She stayed way later than she was supposed to, and by the time she got home she was done. After scrolling on her phone for a bit, she decided she might as well just go to bed, and after some tossing and turning, she was asleep. Then she heard her front door suddenly open, and she looked up. There was someone at the foot of her bed, and he was pointing a gun at her. Just as she started begging for her life, there was a boom the man pulled the trigger. She sat up in bed, breathing heavily and patting her stomach. It was just a dream, but it felt so real she could have sworn. She felt the warm liquid ooze out of her abdomen where she had been shot in her dream. She was okay, but she wasn't going to sleep after that. Do you ever have dreams that are so scary that they feel real? You know, those recurring ones. You're running, Suddenly there's a cliff and somehow you fall off, but just before you hit the ground you wake up. Your heart is racing and you're covered in cold sweat, or maybe all of your teeth fall out at the same time, maybe someone breaks into your house and tries to kill you, like Brenda's dream. But what if I told you? Sometimes these horrifying dreams do sometimes come true. In this episode, I'm sharing a very strange case from Ohio. A young woman had terrible dreams, ones that scared her to recre dreams that might have been premonitions to what was going to happen to her. My name is Edwin, and here's a horror story. Cynthia Jane Anderson was born on February fourth, nineteen sixty one, in a small town of Lambertville in Michigan. It's just north of Toledo, Ohio. Her friends and family all called her Cindy. Her parents, Margaret and Michael, and her siblings Christine, Mark, and James were a tight knit family. Both of her parents, but especially her dad, were very strict, though this didn't bother Cindy. It was normal. It was just how things were. Part of the strict rules and curfews were because of their religious beliefs. They were Christian fundamentalists and the church was what the family did together. Cindy was never outlaid at parties and didn't have that rebellious phase a lot of us go through as teenagers. At the age of twenty, we're in nineteen eighty one. Now her parents loosened the rules a bit. Cindy had a boyfriend who was also a part of the church, and she had a full time job. She worked as a secretary at the Kneller and Rabbit Legal Center in Toledo, Ohio. Cindy had just put in her two weeks at her job. She was planning on attending Bible College with her boyfriend, Jeff. The school was seventy miles away from her house, and it would be her first time this far away from home. Her life was coming together, entering a new phase, and she was excited. She had even started wearing more makeup and trying out new hairdoos. Her dad was not a fan of this new look, but she was an adult now and she seemed happy. But this wasn't all great. For about a year now, Cindy had been having terrible nightmares. As she slept, she would be woken up by the same dream. She was in bed. When someone knocked at her door, Cindy went to open it, wondering who would be there so late. When she opened the door, she felt relief. It was someone she knew, but then they would pull out a gun and threaten to kill her if she didn't go with them. It was always the same dream, someone she knew was taking her away, and it wasn't every night, but enough that it was bothering her. She told her mom about her disturbing nightmares, but her mother told her not to worry about it, that it was just a dream. But these dreams could have been a manifestation of what was going on around her. You see, Cindy's job was in a more dangerous area than her house. It was in a strip mall in Toledo, about ten minutes away. In the past year, two women had been killed in the same area around the strip mall. It had gotten so bad that her job had placed an emergency button under her desk. Whenever she was alone in the law firm, she locked the front door. The law firm was inside a shopping center, and those walking by could see her sitting by herself at the front desk. Every day, when Cindy looked outside, she could see a piece of graffiti that scared her. It read I Love you Cindy g W. Cindy didn't know anyone with those initials, and every day she had to stare at this message, one she thought was meant for her by someone she didn't know. Every time it was painted over, it reappeared. She felt like someone was after her. And if her nightmares and the graffiti wasn't enough, something else started happening. She started receiving strange phone calls at work. No one knew what was said on the other line, but everyone could tell it was upsetting. The phone would ring, Cindy would answer, and her face would grow pale. She never told anyone what was said to her, but she was always visibly shaken after these calls like this. One specific incident, Larry Mullins, a client of the law firm, was there to pay off a legal fee, and as he was wrapping up, the phone rang. Cindy answered, and she looked afraid, and in seconds she hung up the call. Immediately, the phone started ringing again and again the same thing. Cindy answered and quickly hung up. The look on her face was engraved in Larry's memory. He asked her if something was wrong, but she only told him that this happened a few times per day. She didn't tell him what was said, but he was worried, so when he got home, he called the police and he asked them to drive by and check on her because he could tell something had really scared her. The next day, August fourth, nineteen eighty one, Cindy woke up and got ready for work. She skipped the breakfast and got in her car and headed out. She arrived at the law offices at around eight thirty in the morning. She locked the doors behind her, set her romance book on her desk, and turned on the radio. Then she continued getting the office ready for the day. At eight fifty in the morning, a maintenance worker walked by and saw her at her desk. A little less than an hour later, at nine forty five, someone else at the shopping center walked by and could still see her sitting there. Cindy's mom tried calling her between nine forty and ten am, but Cindy didn't answer. At ten am, clients trying to call the law firm notice no one was answering the phones. One hour later, at eleven, James Rabbit arrived at the office. He tried to pull the door open, but it was locked, and this was odd. Usually Cindy would have unlocked the door for him, so he dug in his pockets for his keys and locked the door and went inside. The radio was on, and so was the AC and the lights. He could hear the phones ringing and noticed that the mail was piled up by the door. Cindy wasn't there, but he thought, hey, maybe she went out for lunch. Normally she would put the phones on hold, but maybe she forgot, so he thought nothing of this. He decided to leap again and get himself some lunch, and by the time he was back for the second time, this time at noon. Jay Feldstein, another lawyer, was also there, but Cindy was not. They walked into the office and everything was still just like James side one hour ago. The lights were on, the radio and the AC were onto. They could even smell nail polish remover in the air. It was clear that Cindy had been there. They called her name, but there was no response. One of them looked at her desk and saw the romance books she had been reading still on her desk. He picked it up and noticed that it was left on a disturbing page. In the book, a woman was abducted at knife point. It also happened to be the only violent scene in the entire book. They called Cindy's house, wondering if maybe she had gone home sick, but she wasn't there either. Her purse and keys were not on her desk, but her car was still in the parking lot. All of this worried them even more and they contacted the police. So at this point, everybody knows that something is wrong, and so the police got to work right away. They feared the worst because just three days before Cindy disappeared, two bodies had been found in the trunk of a car just three blocks away from where she worked. Friend's family, and her boyfriend were all quickly ruled out as suspects. Investigators began to wonder if maybe she had just run away, but this didn't make sense to her family. Her car was still at work, she had plans for a future, plans that she was excited for, so it just didn't seem like her. Their next step was to see if maybe she had a stalker, and so they spent a lot of time trying to figure out more about the graffiti that was scaring Cindy. It turned out that the maintenance worker that had seen her the day she went missing. Had those same initials g W. But it was another dead lead, you see. He just happened to have those same initials and was cleared. It turns out this graffiti was written by a boyfriend who just loved his girlfriend. Her name was also Cindy, and she had just left for the Army. He missed her, and he would write I Love you Cindy GW all over Toledo. If police would have walked on the same street, they would have seen the same message all over this Cindy and GW. Had no idea that later Cindy Anderson would read the message in front of her law firm and feel so terrified. Weeks went by and Cindy was still missing. There was no sign of struggle the day she disappeared, and the office had been locked. It seemed that she would have had to walk out of her office of her own will. One month later, police received an anonymous tip that gave them some hope. The woman had called and told them in a very hushed tone, that Cindy was being held against her will in the basement of a white house. There were two white houses right next to each other, and they were owned by the same family. She said. The family happened to be on vacation and only the adult son stayed behind to watch over Cindy. The woman hung up before giving an address, even though the police begged her to stay on the line. They tried to find the white house based on the woman's description. They try to follow up on the anonymous tip, but this proved to be impossible. They didn't know where these houses were and even tried searching door to door. There were several searches for Cindy and they all turned up empty. Detective Bill Adams was in charge of the investigation, and he stated it was the most extensive missing person's case he had ever faced. Months and months went by and they were no closer to finding her. They even started checking corners and medical examiners across the United States to check any unidentified bodies. Maybe one of them was Cindy. Two murderers were arrested in nineteen eighty two, Anthony and Nathaniel Cook. They had killed at least ten people in the same area where Cindy went missing. One of their victims, Cheryl Barlett, was also having horrible dreams just like Cindy. In her dream someone would take her at gunpoint. They were so bad that she refused to walk alone anywhere, and one night her nightmares became true. While she walked with her boyfriend, two men held them at gunpoint. They killed her boyfriend and assaulted her, but she survived. She was actually the one who led to their arrest. She remembered the man and identified them. The men were questioned to see if maybe they had done something to Cindy. Anthony and Nathaniel admitted to other cases going back to the nineteen sixties, but they had nothing to do with Cindy. Investigators try to follow every lead, tip rumor that the case was growing cold. Teen years later, there was another possible lead. In nineteen ninety five, nine people were charged for their involvement in a drug ring, and one of those nine happened to be Cindy's boss, Richard Neller. The leader of the drug ring was Jose Rodriguez Junior, one of Richard's clients. During the trial, a witness testified that Jose Rodriguez told him he was the one to kill Cindy. Josette told the witness his cellmate that Cindy overheard Richard Neller and himself talking about the drug ring. They killed her together to keep her quiet. That the witness was named unreliable and this confession was dismissed. It seems that it wasn't further investigated. There were new searches conducted for Cindy in a suburb of Toledo near Rosser Rodriguez's house, but they resulted in nothing. Richard Neller was convicted of drug trafficking and spent seventy months in Jailseldigus Junior is still in prison for a different drug trafficking incident, and still there's no sign of Cindy Anderson. All the possible leads they had went nowhere. If it was a stalker, he was never found. If it was her boss, Richard Kneller and his client who said Rodriguez Junior, there was no evidence to prove it. If she left on her own and ran away, why that's all her family and investigators were left with questions with zero answers. Her social Security number has not been used since her disappearance, and all the money she had saved up for college has just been sitting in her bank account. All of her belongings were left at home. Her dad would often say that maybe Cindy was somewhere out there with amnesia and one day she would remember and come back home. The parents passed away, still wondering where their daughter was. Yes, Cindy's sister, Christine still wonders. She does believe the dream Cindy was experiencing were premonitions of fear, premonicious of danger. Is why was Cindy so scared? Was she being threatened? Who was calling her at work? What happened to her? And how many of us have recurring nightmares that we should be dedicating the time to take care of. This is still an open and in soft case. Cindy was twenty when she was last seen, and she would be sixty three in twenty twenty four. She was last seen wearing a white V neck dress with pink pinstripes, cinnamon brown patty hoose, and beige open toed sandals. She was five to four and weighed one hundred and fifteen pounds. Her hair was brown, her eyes were two. She also had a chicken pox scar on her forehead and a fish hook shaped scar on her right knee. If anyone has any information that can help, the Toledo Police, department can be contacted at four nineteen two four five three three four zero.
